Cliffside restaurant: two terraces, one cliff
The restaurant is split across two terraces. The lower one is where most people end up, with bar tables right at the edge, regular tables shaded by linen umbrellas, and a few cosy couches tucked into the corners for a slower kind of evening. The upper terrace sits above it, roofed and shaded, quieter, and a good option if you’d rather have some cover overhead.
Both terraces keep the same idea in mind: seats close enough to the edge to feel the cliff, without ever feeling exposed. It’s less about picking the perfect table and more about picking the mood you’re after, lively and open downstairs, or quieter and shaded upstairs.
Our view: why people keep coming back
The decor here is kept simple on purpose: the real focus is what’s in front of you, the cliff, the ocean, and the sunset on a clear evening. The restaurant seats around 140 guests across the two terraces, giving enough space to spread out while keeping every table within reach of the view.
It’s one of the reasons La Terrazza keeps showing up on best-of lists for restaurants with a view in Uluwatu. Come for lunch and the ocean is still the main event, just in full daylight instead of gold light. Come for dinner and, on a clear evening, you get the sunset as well, and often a good enough reason to come by itself.
Dinner at La Terrazza: pizza, mains, and a bit of Tuscany
Dinner here runs on the same principle as everything else: keep it authentic, keep it Italian, let the food hold its own. Our pizza is made with a slow fermented dough, light and easy to finish. Alongside it, the pasta is made fresh in house, and the small bites are perfect for sharing before the mains arrive, which cover heartier plates for when pizza isn’t what you’re after. The Schiacciata Toscana, our Tuscan flatbread, is a direct nod to where our founders are from, Pisa, in Tuscany.
Chef Lucia Nicolò runs the kitchen with the same idea in mind: real Italian flavouaurants with a viers, using some ingredients imported from Italy, paired with the best local produce Uluwatu has to offer. Alongside it all, there’s a wine list built to match the food, and gelato or dessert to close things off if you’re staying for one more course. It’s dinner the way it should be: the food and the view working together, a combination that’s genuinely hard to find anywhere else in Uluwatu.
Good to know before you come
The Front Deck, our closest tables to the edge, are available on a minimum spend of IDR 300K per seat (taxes and service charge included), from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Outside of that window, or anywhere else on the terraces, there’s no minimum spend to worry about. Front Deck seats are first come, first served. For the other tables, we recommend booking ahead, especially on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, when live music runs from 6 pm.
More than dinner
Dinner is only part of what happens on this cliff. Come earlier in the day for breakfast or lunch, or start the evening with aperitivo at our Sunset Bar before your table is ready. Yes. Both terraces face the open ocean, and the lower terrace’s edge tables are the closest you’ll get to the cliff without leaving your seat.
Do I need to book a table in advance?
The Front Deck seats aren’t bookable in advance, they’re first come, first served. If you arrive around 5 pm, you’ll almost certainly find a spot there. Coming later, you can still book a regular table or one of the couches, both with the same ocean view.
Is La Terrazza suitable for a casual lunch as well as dinner?
Yes. The same terraces and view are open through the day, it’s simply a quieter, sunnier version of the evening.
Is there somewhere to store my things if I come straight from the beach?
